Equestrian statue of Grigory Kotovsky, Bronze equestrian monument in central Chișinău, Moldova.

This bronze equestrian sculpture in central Chișinău shows the commander mounted on a horse and rising above a polished red granite pedestal. The figure stands about 12 meters tall and creates a strong visual presence in the city landscape.

The sculpture was created in 1953 by sculptor Lazăr Dubinovschi to honor a Soviet army general. It marks the transformation of a military leader who rose from outlaw status to become a high-ranking officer.

The inscription on the granite base preserves the commander's name and dates for visitors to read. This simple marking keeps the figure present in the memory of those who pass by the monument.

The monument sits in an accessible location near central attractions and can be reached by public transportation. Visitors can also easily explore it on foot if they are walking through the downtown area.

The sword alone weighs around 95 kilograms, and the entire sculpture tips the scales at roughly 20 tons. This makes it one of Europe's largest equestrian monuments and shows the craftsmanship required to create such a massive work.
