Vrelo Cave, Show cave in Matka Canyon, North Macedonia
Located on the right bank of the Treska River, Vrelo Cave contains two underground lakes connected by passages adorned with numerous limestone formations.
This natural formation has been modified into a show cave during the early 2000s, making it accessible for guided underground boat tours.
The cave functions as an educational center where visitors learn about regional geological processes and the formation of underground water systems.
Tours operate daily from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM, with boats departing regularly from the entrance at Planinarski Dom Matka.
At the cave's terminus, two lakes reach depths of 15 and 18 meters, potentially making Vrelo one of the deepest underwater caves in Europe.
