BCEAO Tower

The BCEAO Tower is a 20-story skyscraper that rises 80 meters high along the Niger River, distinguished by its tapered form and characteristic vertical patterns across the facade. The building combines modern office structure with design elements that evoke the earthen architecture of the region.

The building was completed in 1985 and serves as the headquarters for the regional central bank overseeing financial operations across Francophone West Africa. Its construction marked an important point in modern urban development along Bamako's riverfront zone.

The tower displays architectural features inspired by traditional earthen mosques of West Africa, particularly in its orange-red coloring and vertical ornamentation. This design merges modern high-rise function with regional building traditions that have been rooted in the area for centuries.

The building sits at the intersection of Avenue Moussa Tavele and the waterfront boulevard between King Fahd Bridge and Martyrs Bridge in Commune III. Visitors can view the facade and surrounding riverside landscape easily from street level.

The building features distinctive horn-like projections at its roofline and deep vertical incisions across its surface. These details resemble the structure of a termite mound and give the tower a truly distinctive appearance within the urban landscape.
