Sélingué Dam, Hydroelectric power station in Sikasso, Mali.
The Sélingué Dam spans 2,600 meters across the Sankarani River, creating a reservoir that covers 409 square kilometers of surface area.
The construction of this hydroelectric facility began in 1979 and required an investment of 140 million US dollars before its completion in 1982.
The artificial Lake Sélingué supplies water to local fishing communities, making it central to regional food production and economic activities.
The dam generates 200 million kilowatt-hours annually, distributing electricity to multiple cities including Bamako, Kati, Koulikoro, and Ségou.
This power station maintains a height of 23 meters and features multiple spillways designed specifically for managing water flow during rainy seasons.
