King Fahd Bridge, Transportation bridge across Niger River in Bamako, Mali

The King Fahd Bridge spans across the Niger River and connects the northern and southern parts of the city together. The structure features four traffic lanes and enables smooth traffic flow between the two sections of Bamako.

The bridge opened in 1992 with support from the Saudi Development Fund and was the second river crossing in Bamako. It emerged from the need to better manage growing traffic between the expanding neighborhoods of the city.

The bridge has become a social gathering point in the city's daily life, where people from different neighborhoods meet and interact. It shapes the urban landscape and links not just two banks but also different communities together.

The crossing is easy to find and is used daily by many vehicles and pedestrians. It is wise to be careful when driving or walking during peak traffic times, as congestion can be significant.

The bridge also functions as an informal marketplace where small vendors and street musicians enliven the crossing. This everyday activity makes it more than just a traffic infrastructure.
