Mine de Siguiri, Gold mine in Siguiri, Guinea
The Siguiri mine complex extends across an open-pit operation with a processing plant capable of handling 12 million tonnes of ore annually.
The mining operation began with AngloGold Ashanti acquiring 85% ownership, while the remaining 15% is held by the government of Guinea.
The mine incorporates local workforce participation, including women who participate in ore screening activities within the mining operations.
The facility employs 3000 workers, divided between 1800 permanent staff members and 1200 contractors who operate the mining equipment.
The processing plant underwent modifications in 2019 to handle both soft oxide ore and hard sulphide ore in equal 6-million-tonne quantities.
