The Fine Arts Zanabazar Museum

The Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts is an art museum in Sükhbaatar that displays around 7,000 works. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, and traditional handcrafted objects that represent Mongolian artistic expression.

The building dates to 1905 and originally served as a Chinese bank. Soviet forces used the structure in the 1920s before it later became the city's first department store.

The museum displays religious objects like thangka scroll paintings, Buddhist statues, and tsam masks used by monks in ceremonies. These works show how Buddhism shaped Mongolian artistic life.

The museum has different opening times depending on the season and is most accessible during warmer months. Visitors should check current hours in advance and wear comfortable clothing.

Five Dhyani Buddhas cast in 1683 and Tara in 21 manifestations rank among the museum's outstanding works. These rare bronze sculptures offer insight into the region's sophisticated Buddhist artistic skill.
