National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia

The National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet stands on the eastern side of Sükhbaatar Square, featuring a repertoire of classical and national performances.

The theatre opened its doors on May 15, 1963, as the State Musical Drama Theatre, presenting its inaugural performance of Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin three days later.

The venue maintains a collection of more than 100 national and international works, including 56 ballets and 54 operas from Mongolian and foreign composers.

The theatre employs 270 artists, staff members, and administrators who contribute to regular opera and ballet productions throughout the performance season.

The programming incorporates Mongolian classical pieces such as B. Sharav's Chinggis Khaan opera alongside international works like Mozart's Don Giovanni and Verdi's Aida.
