Rinella Battery, Artillery battery and military museum in Kalkara, Malta

The complex features a deep protective ditch surrounding a pentagon-shaped structure with underground loading chambers and ground-level accommodation areas for soldiers.

Built by British forces in 1878, Fort Rinella housed an Armstrong 100-ton gun capable of firing one-ton shells at targets up to eight miles away.

The Soldiers of the Queen exhibition displays 3,000 military artifacts from the Victorian era, including weapons, uniforms, and equipment from 1837 to 1901.

The fort operates Thursday through Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00, with guided tours, audio guides, and admission prices ranging from 5 to 12 euros.

The Armstrong cannon at Fort Rinella measures 11 meters in length and remains the largest muzzle-loading weapon ever manufactured.
