Description
Għajn Tuffieħa is a sandy beach in Mġarr with reddish sand and clear Mediterranean waters, bordered by steep clay cliffs and natural rock formations. The shoreline curves gently along a sheltered bay where the water deepens gradually.
History
A defensive tower was built in 1637 by the Knights Hospitaller under Grand Master Giovanni Paolo Lascaris to watch over the bay. This watchtower shows the military past of the island during an important period of its protection.
