Majjistral Park, Nature reserve in Mellieha, Malta.
Majjistral Park is a nature reserve spanning about 6 kilometers of protected coastline with sand dunes, rocky cliffs, low shrubland, and seasonal freshwater pools nestled in rock depressions. The landscape shifts between open grassland flats and steeper coastal stretches, supporting different habitats throughout the reserve.
The Maltese Government established this as the nation's first nature reserve in 2007. The coastal area preserves archaeological remains from ancient times alongside structures built during World War II.
The park's name comes from the Maltese word for the northwestern wind that shapes this coastline. Visitors experience this influence directly when walking across the open, windswept landscape.
The reserve is freely accessible on foot from October through April, with a visitor center open on weekdays. Bring weather-resistant clothing since the exposed location experiences strong winds regularly.
The site contains stone huts with traditional corbelled construction and burial chambers from the Punic period. A restored World War II observation post named it-Torri ta' Għajn Znuber also stands open for visitors to explore.
