Westreme Battery, Coastal defense museum in Mellieha, Malta.
The building features a semi-circular gun platform with five embrasures and a large blockhouse constructed with barrel vaults for structural support.
The Order of Saint John built this artillery battery between 1715 and 1716 as part of a network of coastal fortifications across Malta.
The structure now houses the Tunnara Museum, displaying traditional fishing equipment and documenting the local tuna fishing methods used since 1748.
While the museum remains closed, visitors can examine the exterior architecture and observe the machine gun portholes added during World War II.
The diagonal positioning of the blockhouse across the gun platform represents an uncommon architectural choice in Mediterranean coastal fortifications.
