Palazzo Ferreria, Venetian Gothic palace in Valletta, Malta.
Palazzo Ferreria is a limestone palace near the entrance to Valletta, featuring ornate timber balconies and detailed architectural elements across its grand facade. The upper floors contain government offices while the ground level houses retail shops.
The palace was built in 1876 on the site of a former Knights of Malta foundry and was constructed for the Buttigieg family. It later came under the ownership of Colonel John Louis Francia.
The palace displays a blend of Venetian Gothic style with traditional Maltese architectural elements, particularly visible in its ornate balconies and arched windows. This mix shapes how the street looks and makes it an important example of local building traditions.
The ground floor is publicly accessible and contains shops you can visit without restriction. The upper floors are reachable during business hours if you need to visit the official offices.
The building ranks as the second largest structure in Valletta after the Grandmaster's Palace, making it a defining feature of the cityscape. Its coats of arms belong to the Buttigieg and Camilleri families, documenting the noble history of the place.
