Parliament House, Government building in Valletta, Malta
Parliament House in Valletta consists of two large stone blocks elevated on columns, with facades designed to allow natural light into the interior spaces. The architecture combines local limestone with modern materials and creates an open connection between the government district and the surrounding squares.
The building was inaugurated in 2015 and replaced previous parliamentary chambers located in the Grandmaster's Palace. The new structure arose as part of a larger project to redesign the entrance to Valletta.
The ground floor serves as an exhibition space with multimedia installations, connecting the building to the entrance area of the city. Visitors can experience contemporary presentations here that illustrate Maltese themes and parliamentary work.
The entrance is located at the city gate and can be reached on foot from the bus station. The ground floor exhibition area is open to visitors on certain days, while the upper working floors remain closed.
Each stone block of the facade received precise shaping through computer-controlled technology to create patterns resembling natural erosion. The structure integrates 600 square meters (6,458 square feet) of photovoltaic panels and 40 geothermal boreholes for efficient heating and cooling systems.
