Malta Stock Exchange

The Malta Stock Exchange is a securities exchange in Valletta where equities and debt instruments trade on a regulated market. The exchange tracks price movements and disseminates information to market participants throughout the trading day.

The exchange opened in 1992, two years after the Malta Stock Exchange Act became law. It initially operated under Central Bank oversight before expanding into its current role within Malta's financial system.

The building once served as a place of worship before becoming a financial center at the end of the 1990s. You can still see how the original religious architecture blends with modern financial operations.

The exchange sits in central Valletta and operates during standard business hours on weekdays. Access to the physical building may require prior arrangement, so checking ahead is recommended for potential visitors.

The exchange joined forces with 13 other European exchanges in 2023 to form EuroCTP, a consolidated data service. This network allows traders and investors to track price information across participating markets simultaneously.
