Church of Our Lady of Liesse, Baroque church along Grand Harbour in Valletta, Malta
The limestone Church of Our Lady of Liesse features a central dome, three altars, and a belfry designed by architect Francesco Zammit in 1740.
Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt attended the first stone laying ceremony in 1620, with construction funds provided by Fra Giacomo De Chess du Bellay.
The main altar painting by Enrico Arnaux depicts a narrative of three knights and Our Lady of Liesse, representing local religious traditions.
The church maintains regular opening hours for visitors and offers guided tours explaining its architecture, religious significance, and historical elements.
The building houses relics of Saint Generoso transferred from Fort Manoel and a Virgin Mary statue originally displayed at Fort Saint Elmo.
