Sarria Church, Roman Catholic Rotunda church in Floriana, Malta
The circular church contains seven large paintings created by Mattia Preti, with the central artwork depicting the Immaculate Conception above the main altar.
Knight Fra Martin Sarria Navarra established the original chapel in 1585, while the current structure was built after the 1675 plague as a gesture of gratitude.
The main altarpiece illustrates the Virgin Mary triumphing over the plague, with angels sheathing their swords and boats transporting the sick from Lazaretto.
Visitors can photograph the interior of the church and purchase prints of the main painting through donations that support ongoing preservation efforts.
This religious building stands as the only church designed by Italian artist Mattia Preti, who spent his final years in Malta from 1660 to 1699.
