Jos is a large city in central Nigeria situated on a plateau at 1,295 meters elevation. The city extends across two local government areas with temperatures between 21 and 25 degrees Celsius throughout the year.
British colonial administration began tin mining operations in 1905 at Naraguta Hausawa, transforming a small Birom settlement into a major industrial center. Mining attracted workers from different regions and shaped the city's subsequent development up to the present day.
