Ameki Formation, Geological formation in Niger Delta Basin, Nigeria.
The Ameki Formation is a geological layer in southeastern Nigeria made of sandstone, shale, limestone, and ironstone. These rocks show the remains of ancient shallow marine and nearshore environments that once covered the region.
This formation developed during the Lutetian and Bartonian periods of the Eocene epoch through sediment accumulation. The rocks were laid down in shallow marine settings that have since shifted and changed through geological processes.
