Ikorodu is a large administrative area northeast of Lagos that spreads along the lagoon and contains multiple residential neighborhoods and business centers. The settlement began as a trading post established by migrants from Sagamu in the mid-19th century. Later, the area gained independence through conflicts with Ijebu rulers.
The community speaks the Ijebu dialect of Yoruba as its primary language, and residents practice Christianity, Islam, and traditional faiths side by side in everyday life.
