Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Lagos, Nigeria
The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that connects the Lekki Peninsula with the Ikoyi district. It carries motor traffic, pedestrians, and joggers across the water between these two parts of Lagos.
The bridge was built to reduce travel time between two growing neighborhoods on opposite sides of the water. Its completion represented a major step forward in connecting Lagos's expanding eastern districts.
The bridge serves as a representation of Nigerian engineering capabilities, demonstrating the nation's commitment to developing modern transportation infrastructure.
Vehicles require payment to cross, while pedestrians and joggers have separate designated paths available. Walking or jogging early in the morning or late afternoon tends to be more pleasant when traffic is lighter.
The structure contains 57,400 cubic meters of concrete and incorporates pre-cast elements throughout its 31,900 square meters of road surface.
