Bar Beach is a sandy coastal area stretching along the Atlantic Ocean on Victoria Island, close to Lagos city center. The beach is surrounded by fencing that runs along its entire perimeter.
During the 1970s, the beach was the site of executions carried out by Nigerian authorities. The area was later significantly altered through large-scale land reclamation projects.
The beach served as a central gathering place for Lagosians, particularly when the city was Nigeria's capital. People used it for sports, social meetings, and seaside relaxation.
