Eko Pearl Towers, Residential tower complex in Eko Atlantic, Lagos, Nigeria
Eko Pearl Towers is a residential complex of five high-rise buildings located in Eko Atlantic, on the waterfront of Lagos, Nigeria. The towers are built with glass, steel, and aluminum, and range between 24 and 33 floors, offering apartments from one to three bedrooms as well as penthouses.
The first tower, Eko Black Pearl, broke ground in 2013 and was completed in 2016, with Eko Champagne Pearl following the next year. The whole complex was built as part of the broader development of Eko Atlantic, a new district created on land reclaimed from the sea off Victoria Island.
The five towers are each named after a pearl color: Black, White, Champagne, Indigo, and Aqua. These names give each building its own identity and make it easy for residents and visitors to find their way around the complex.
The complex sits in a still-developing area, so the ground around it can be uneven and some nearby roads or paths may be incomplete. Wearing sturdy footwear is a good idea, and it helps to allow extra time when moving between the towers and the surrounding commercial spaces.
The ground beneath the towers did not exist a few decades ago: it was created by pumping millions of tons of sand from the ocean floor. That same reclaimed land also acts as a physical barrier that helps protect the nearby Victoria Island shoreline from wave erosion.
