Funtua

Funtua extends across 448 square kilometers of land in northern Nigeria, positioned at latitude 11.53 and longitude 7.31 with temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius.

The local government area emerged through Nigerian administrative reforms in 1976, establishing itself as one of the first local governments in the national restructuring program.

The Fulani people form the principal ethnic group in the region, maintaining traditional practices centered on agriculture, commerce, and livestock management.

The area connects to other regions through four federal highways and includes a railway station, facilitating transportation and commerce throughout northern Nigeria.

The source of the Sokoto River originates near Funtua, while the region maintains an inland container dry port established in 2006 for national port decongestion.
