Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Multi-purpose stadium in Kaduna, Nigeria.
Ahmadu Bello Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Kaduna, the main city of Kaduna State in northern Nigeria. It has an oval layout with covered seating stands, a running track around the pitch, and additional indoor sports facilities within the same compound.
The stadium was built in 1965, shortly after Nigerian independence, when the government was investing in sports facilities across the country. It was among the first large sports venues in the north of Nigeria.
The stadium takes its name from Sir Ahmadu Bello, the first Premier of Northern Nigeria, who was killed in 1966. His name is deeply present across northern Nigeria, and this venue is one of the most visible reminders of his legacy.
The stadium is centrally located in Kaduna and easy to reach from different parts of the city. It has several entry points with separate sections for general visitors and VIP guests, so it helps to check which gate corresponds to your ticket type.
The compound includes two indoor sports halls next to the main stadium, which is fairly unusual for a venue of this size on the continent. These halls are used regularly for events even when no match is taking place in the main arena.
