Kaduna

Kaduna is a trade center in Kaduna State, Nigeria, situated along the banks of the Kaduna River. The settlement maintains an international airport, several educational institutions, and production facilities for textiles, machinery, steel, and petroleum products.

Colonial administrators founded the settlement in 1900 and made it the capital of the northern administrative region in 1917. This role continued until the area was divided into separate states in 1967.

The city takes its name from the Hausa word for crocodiles that once lived in the river. The National Museum displays archaeological finds and ethnographic collections from different cultures of Northern Nigeria, giving visitors insight into regional diversity.

The yearly average temperature sits around 25 degrees Celsius (77 degrees Fahrenheit), making light clothing and enough water advisable. Visitors can use the river as a natural reference point for orientation through the settlement.

The museum opened in 1975 and gathers objects documenting daily life and traditions of Northern Nigeria's peoples. Visitors can view tools, clothing, and ritual items from different periods here.
