Den Helder

Den Helder occupies the northernmost point of North Holland peninsula at 1 meter above sea level, extending across 178 square kilometers of coastal territory.

Napoleon Bonaparte initiated the construction of a naval fort and dock in Den Helder during the early 1800s, with completion taking fourteen years until 1827.

The Royal Netherlands Naval College maintains its primary educational facility in Den Helder, training future naval officers and maritime professionals throughout the year.

Two railway stations connect Den Helder to Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Nijmegen, while the TESO ferry service provides regular transportation to Texel island.
