Ziggo Dome, Concert hall and multi-purpose arena in Bijlmermeer, Netherlands
Ziggo Dome is a large event hall in the Bijlmermeer neighborhood used mainly for concerts and sporting events. The black exterior has built-in lighting elements that create visual displays across the outside surface.
The project developed between 2008 and 2012 following revisions to earlier designs for a similar facility. The eastern location was chosen to address growing demand for additional event venues across the city.
The name comes from a sponsorship deal made in 2010 and makes the place a hub for live performances in the city's eastern area. Visitors experience music and shows across many genres, from rock to pop to theatrical productions.
Visitors enter through multiple access points and can navigate using different floor levels and transitions throughout the space. Seating arrangements change depending on the event type to optimize space use and viewing angles.
The exterior is covered with roughly 500000 lighting elements that form one of the largest digital display surfaces in Europe. This technology allows impressive visual installations and information displays across the entire facade.
