Hillegom

Hillegom is a municipality in South Holland that spreads across agricultural and residential areas, surrounded by flower fields. The terrain is flat and lies near sea level, blending rural spaces with local settlements.

The settlement originated before the year 1000 and took its name from the monastery Hijlighem, meaning Holy House in Old Frankish. For centuries, it served as a religious and agricultural center.
