The building's roots trace back to the 14th century, when it served as a gathering place for the Counts of Holland in Hillegom. Over time it was rebuilt several times and received its current neoclassical appearance during a 19th-century renovation.

Once a country estate for a wealthy family, this building remains the social center where locals gather for ceremonies and municipal events. The interior rooms display how prosperous residents lived in this area during the 19th century.
