Euroborg, football stadium in Groningen, Netherlands
Euroborg is a football stadium in Groningen and the home ground of FC Groningen since it opened. It has two tiers, fully covered stands, and seats around 22,550 spectators, with every seat offering a direct view of the pitch.
The ground was built in 2006 and replaced the Oosterparkstadion, where FC Groningen had played for decades before. The move to the Europapark area marked a new chapter for the club and brought it closer to the main train station on the southern edge of the city.
The nickname 'De Groene Hel' (The Green Hell) comes from the fans themselves and captures the intensity of home matches at the ground. Supporters gather in the home stand well before kickoff, creating a wall of noise that visiting teams find hard to ignore.
Groningen Europapark station sits right next to the ground, making arrival by train straightforward on match days. Parking fills fast, so if you drive it helps to arrive well before kickoff, and there are bicycle racks nearby for those coming by bike.
The building around the pitch contains apartments, offices, a cinema, shops, and a hotel, so there is activity even on days when no match is played. In 2024, part of one stand was converted into a standing area after supporters asked for it directly.
