Stadsvilla Sonsbeek, Landhaus bei Arnheim, Niederlande
Stadsvilla Sonsbeek is a five-story mansion situated on a hilltop within Sonsbeek Park in Arnhem. The building displays white facades and traditional Dutch architectural elements from the 18th century, containing seven distinct rooms.
The mansion was built in 1744 for orphan Adriana van Bayen, designed by architect Anthony Viervant and later expanded with side wings by his son Roelof. These additions shaped the building's appearance that survives to the present day.
The building served as an exhibition space for contemporary art from 1986 to 2004, establishing its role in the local cultural scene. Today it functions as a café where visitors experience the historic interior in a relaxed setting.
The estate offers spaces available for private events, corporate meetings, and wedding celebrations. The location is easily accessible via park pathways and invites relaxation within the surrounding green areas.
A narrow canal surrounded the villa on three sides in 1987, later converted into a terrace. From this vantage point, views extend over Arnhem and the adjacent park.
