Ito-toren, Office building in Zuidas, Netherlands
Ito-toren is a modern office building in Amsterdam's Zuidas financial district, defined by its striking facade of glass and aluminum panels. The 25-story structure features slanted exterior walls and evenly spaced horizontal window rows that give it a thoughtful, geometric appearance.
The building was constructed between 2002 and 2005 as part of Amsterdam's Zuidas district development. Its completion marked an important addition to the city's financial quarter during a period of urban renewal and growth.
Japanese architect Toyo Ito incorporated four interior atria into the building design, merging Eastern architectural concepts with Dutch urban development.
The building is easy to spot and photograph from outside, as it sits in the open Zuidas area. Public outdoor spaces around it allow visitors to view the modern architecture and interesting facade from different angles.
The facade displays a subtle pattern of geometric perforations that create shifting shadow play depending on the time of day and light angle. This fine detail sets the building apart and makes it an engaging subject for photography from various perspectives.
