World Trade Center, Commercial complex in Zuidas, Netherlands
The World Trade Center Amsterdam is a complex of nine buildings labeled A through I that houses office space, conference rooms, and dining facilities across its grounds. The tallest structure (Tower H) reaches 104 meters and defines the skyline of the Zuidas district.
The complex was established in 1985 as Amsterdam sought to strengthen its position as an international business hub. Between 1998 and 2004, extensive renovations modernized the facilities to meet contemporary standards.
The complex serves as a meeting place where international professionals gather for business, reflecting Amsterdam's importance as a global trade center. The way its buildings connect physically mirrors how commerce flows between companies and countries in today's world.
The nine buildings connect through indoor passageways, making it easy to move around the entire complex without going outside even in bad weather. Restaurants and cafes are scattered throughout, so visitors can find a place to eat or rest without leaving the grounds.
The Zuidas district where this complex sits was deliberately developed as a new business quarter starting in the 1990s, making it one of Amsterdam's youngest neighborhoods. This modern setting contrasts sharply with the medieval character of the city center.
