Sint Urbanuskerk, Bovenkerk, Neo-Gothic church in Bovenkerk, Netherlands.

Sint Urbanuskerk, also known as the Urbanuskerk Bovenkerk, is a neo-gothic church in Bovenkerk, a village within the municipality of Amstelveen in the Netherlands, with a hexagonal tower. The building is laid out with three naves and a transept, which is the standard plan for this style of architecture.

Pierre Cuypers designed the church, which was built between 1875 and 1888 to replace an older house of worship near De Poel. Cuypers is also the architect behind the Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam's Central Station, making this a part of a significant body of work.

The Sint Urbanuskerk serves as the main parish church for the Roman Catholic community in Bovenkerk, and it remains in active use for regular worship today. Inside, two pipe organs can be heard during services and musical events throughout the year.

The church reopened for services at Easter 2023 after a fire in 2018 and a lengthy restoration period. Opening times can vary depending on services and events, so it is worth checking before you visit.

The rectory next to the church was finished before the church itself was completed, and it shows a chalet-style design with red brick and wooden framing. This gives the complex two quite different architectural faces standing side by side.
