Kersenbloesempark, Cherry blossom park in Amstelveen, Netherlands.
Kersenbloesempark is a green space featuring around 400 cherry trees that produce pink and white blossoms from March through April. Winding pathways connect the trees and link to the surrounding forest area.
The space was established in 2000 when the Japan Women's Club donated 400 cherry trees to the Amstelveen municipality. This gift marked the beginning of a new community green space with international origins.
The park serves as a gathering place during spring celebrations, where families picnic beneath the flowering trees and share the season together. The blossoms transform the space into a focal point for community events and social occasions.
The best time to visit is March and April when the blossoms are active, though weekends become noticeably crowded compared to weekdays. Comfortable shoes are recommended since pathways wind through the terrain.
Each tree in the park carries a female name of either Japanese or Dutch origin, symbolizing the connection between the two cultures. This personal naming makes every tree individually recognized.
