Nationaal verstrooiterrein Delhuyzen, National ash scattering grounds in Arnhem, Netherlands
Nationaal verstrooiterrein Delhuyzen is an ash scattering ground covering about 80 hectares of land at the southern edge of Veluwe. The site combines open heathland with pine and deciduous forests, where oaks, birches, and beeches grow.
The grounds were established in 1989, converting a former private estate into a dedicated ash scattering site. The area later became part of Veluwezoom National Park, enabling nature management activities on the expanded land.
The grounds serve as a quiet place for memorial ceremonies and personal remembrance. Visitors find space for reflection within a setting that honors both individuals and collective memory.
The grounds are accessible via Apeldoornseweg (N784) at kilometer 5.1 and open from sunrise to sunset. Staff accompaniment is required for ash scattering ceremonies.
Scottish Highland cattle have roamed freely through the grounds since 2011, naturally controlling vegetation as part of land management. These animals help maintain the landscape as open and diverse.
