Dijk en Waard

Dijk en Waard is a municipality in North Holland created through the merger of two former towns. The area includes several communities spread across flat terrain shaped by water management systems.

This municipality was formed in 2022 when Heerhugowaard and Langedijk merged into one administrative unit. The consolidation reflects broader changes in how local governance is organized across the Netherlands.
