Tyssestrengene, Waterfall in Odda Municipality, Norway
Tyssestrengene is a waterfall in Ullensvang with a total drop of about 646 meters, where the highest single cascade reaches about 312 meters. The water descends in multiple tiers down the green mountainside.
The waterfall was incorporated into a hydroelectric system, which significantly reduced the water flow. Today the water flows at full force only during heavy snow melt or after intense rainfall.
The waterfall remains an integral part of Norway's natural heritage, recognized by Statistics Norway as containing the highest single waterfall drop in the country.
Access is via Road 13 heading toward Tyssedal, then via a marked trail to Ringedalsdammen. The best time to visit is during the warmer months when the paths are easier to walk.
The waterfall shows its full magnitude only under specific rainy or snowy conditions. During dry periods, the flow can appear surprisingly weak.
