Port of Mina Al Fahal, Industrial port complex in Muscat, Oman
Port of Mina Al Fahal is an industrial shipping facility on the Gulf of Oman coast designed to handle crude oil and petroleum products. The complex features three single buoy mooring systems that enable the transfer of products between shore facilities and large tanker vessels.
The location was transformed in the 1960s by Petroleum Development Oman to extract and export the region's crude oil resources. This shift converted the area from a rural landscape into a modern port and processing center.
The PDO Planetarium near the port facility provides scientific education and astronomical observations for local residents and visitors.
The facility can accommodate large vessels and requires specific water depth conditions for safe operations. Visitors can view the port area from designated spots along the coast, but should remember this is an active industrial zone where large ships regularly transit.
The facility is managed by two separate operators, with one handling crude oil export and the other managing petroleum marketing and distribution activities. This division of responsibility allows the coordination of large volumes of petroleum products for different markets.
