Barka Fort, Military fort in Al Batinah Region, Oman
The octagonal fortress stands near the beach, featuring high defensive walls, multiple towers, and an intricately carved wooden main entrance gate.
Built in the 15th century, the fort contains a 450-year-old defense tower and underwent several construction phases during different periods of Omani history.
The fort includes a traditional Arabic salon decorated with carpets, oil lamps, and a courtroom displaying historical rifles and jewelry from past settlements.
Visitors can access the fort from Thursday to Sunday between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM, with an entrance fee of 500 baizas.
The fort contains a polygonal tower designed by Imam Ahmed bin Sad, demonstrating architectural innovation in military defense structures.
