Santa Rosa

Santa Rosa lies west of Laguna de Bay and covers 54 square kilometers with commercial districts, industrial zones, and housing areas. The city blends older town centers with modern shopping and manufacturing sites along several main roads.

The area grew from Barrio Bukol and gained municipality status in 1792 under Spanish rule. In 2004, Republic Act Number 9264 granted the settlement city rank within Laguna province.

This place carries the name of Rose of Lima, the first saint from the Americas, and many residents honor her through special celebrations in August. Churches and chapels across town still display images and statues that recall this religious connection.

Buses, jeepneys, and motorcycle taxis connect the place regularly with Metro Manila and other towns in Laguna. Travelers reach most commercial and residential zones via paved roads, though traffic becomes heavier during peak hours.

Several large carmakers operate assembly plants here, including Toyota, Nissan, and Mitsubishi, earning the place the nickname Motor City. These factories produce vehicles both for the domestic market and for export to other Asian countries.
