Arevalo, Administrative district in Iloilo City, Philippines.
Arevalo is an administrative district on the western coast of Iloilo City with a coastal strip lined by beach resorts and dining establishments. The area borders Oton municipality and features waterfront access where visitors can find various places to eat and stay.
Spanish colonizers established the settlement in 1581, naming it after a town in Spain from which their commander came. Over time it grew into an important harbor and trade center with connections to the wider island region.
The Santo Niño de Arevalo Parish holds a cherished statue of the Holy Child that draws many locals to pray and celebrate throughout the year. You can feel how central this religious figure is to the community's spiritual life when you visit during local festivals and devotions.
Jeepneys, taxis, and motorcycle sidecars are the main ways to get around the district. Jeepneys offer the lowest fares though they move slower, while taxis provide faster and more flexible service.
Each year a sailboat race takes place along Villa Beach featuring traditional handcrafted vessels competing against one another. This festival draws visitors who want to see rare traditional boats in action and experience local maritime culture firsthand.
