カラヤアン

Kalayaan is a municipality spread across multiple islands in the West Philippine Sea, with Thitu Island serving as the administrative center. The inhabited areas are extremely small and scattered across the waters.

The municipality received its official status in 1978 through a presidential decree, becoming an independent administrative unit within Palawan province. This establishment defined the boundaries and structure of this remote island territory.

The municipal government organizes annual founding anniversary celebrations, marking governmental milestones and bringing together its 193 residents.

Visiting requires careful planning since the islands are remote and supplies are limited. It's wise to check conditions and transportation options before attempting to travel there.

The area is home to around 193 people, making it among the least populated administrative divisions in the country. This extremely low population makes it one of the rarest places to visit in the region.
