Francisco B. Reyes Airport, airport in Philippines
Francisco B. Reyes Airport, also called Busuanga Airport, is a small airport terminal on Busuanga Island in Palawan that serves as the main gateway to the Coron region. The facility has a simple single-building terminal with a runway approximately 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) long that handles domestic flights from Manila and other major Philippine cities.
The airport site started as a simple landing strip for local use and later modernized as tourism to the region grew. The terminal was rebuilt in 2007, and the runway was expanded in 2017 to accommodate larger aircraft like the Airbus A320.
The airport carries the name of Francisco B. Reyes, a local figure who donated land and supported regional development, reflecting his importance to the community. The small terminal reflects the relaxed way people travel and interact in this island setting.
When you arrive, you will find transfers waiting just outside the terminal, including shared minibus services to nearby Coron town that take about 30 to 45 minutes. It is best to arrange hotel pickup ahead of time, especially during busy seasons, since onsite facilities are limited and options are basic.
The approach to the airport offers one of the region's finest views as the plane descends low over turquoise water and rocky islands. Many passengers try to secure window seats to see the untouched landscape and white beaches during takeoff or landing.
