Shrine of St. Therese, Doctor of the Church

The Shrine of St. Therese, Doctor of the Church, is a Roman Catholic chapel featuring a 35-meter-high dome and a columnless interior following New Classical architectural principles. The complex includes a 50-meter-long central aisle and houses a columbarium that operates daily.

The shrine began in 1947 as a makeshift chapel at Nichols Air Base, founded by José Alberto, the first military chaplain of the Philippine Air Force. It grew from the need to establish a permanent spiritual center for military personnel.

The shrine serves as the Diocesan Shrine of the Military Ordinariate in the Philippines, functioning as a sacred space for military personnel and their families. Daily religious services reflect its role as a spiritual center for those in uniform.

The complex offers basement parking for visitors, making arrival and parking convenient. The daily operating columbarium allows visitors to spend reflective moments whenever they wish.

The building's design draws inspiration from the Reliquary of St. Therese, subtly influencing its architectural form. This design choice creates a meaningful connection between the physical space and devotion to the saint.
