Ayala Museum, Cultural museum in Makati, Philippines
The Ayala Museum is a six-story building made of granite, steel, and glass located in Makati. It houses an extensive collection of Philippine art, artifacts, and historical exhibits spanning multiple periods and covering all aspects of the country's cultural heritage.
The museum was founded in 1967 by Fernando Zobel de Ayala y Montojo and relocated to its current location in 2004. The move occurred as part of Ayala Corporation's 170th anniversary celebration and marked a major turning point for the institution.
The museum displays over 1,000 pre-colonial gold artifacts and sixty detailed dioramas that present key moments in Philippine history from prehistoric times to 1986. These works show how craftsmanship and artistic tradition shaped the identity of Philippine communities across different periods.
The museum is located at Makati Avenue corner De La Rosa Street and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Visitors should arrive early to avoid crowds, especially on weekends.
The Filipinas Heritage Library on the sixth floor holds 13,000 volumes of books, photographs, and multimedia materials about Philippine history and culture. This collection allows visitors to dig deeper into the stories behind the exhibits and explore at their own pace.
