Agoncillo-Mariño House

The Agoncillo-Mariño House is a two-story Spanish colonial residence made of adobe stone and wood, dating from the 18th century and located in the historic town of Taal. Its rooms are furnished with original family pieces and household objects that reveal how prosperous residents lived during that period.

The house was built in the 1780s and served as the residence of the Agoncillo-Mariño family across multiple generations. It is closely linked to significant moments in the Philippine independence movement of the 19th century.

The house displays period furniture and family possessions that reflect the household's connection to the struggle for Philippine independence. Visitors can see how a prosperous family of the 19th century lived and the role they occupied during that era.

The house is located in Taal's historic town center and is easily reached on foot while walking through the narrow streets of this old quarter. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow time to explore the surrounding area, as there are many other period buildings nearby.

A family member created the first Philippine national flag in 1898, which is said to have been made within these walls. This historic creation is tied directly to the country's declaration of independence that same year.
