Panampangan Island

Panampangan Island is a beach destination in Sapa-Sapa known for its extended sandbar formations and shallow turquoise waters. The coastline features a distinctive formation that stretches far into the sea, creating a landscape shaped by sand and water.

The island has existed in its natural state for a long time and served as an important landmark for ships navigating the archipelago's waters. Its location made it a recognizable point for seafarers traveling through the region.

The area reflects the maritime traditions of local boatmen who depend on fishing and pass their knowledge to younger family members. Visitors can observe people working directly with the sea and moving through the waters as part of their daily routine.

The island is reached by speedboat from Bongao, with travel taking about 45 minutes to an hour. It is best to arrange this transportation in advance since regular public boat services are not always available.

The sandbar system extends over an exceptionally long distance, creating a rare geological formation found in few other places. Visitors encounter a landscape that differs fundamentally from typical island beaches.
