Saint Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral

Saint Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral presents a Neoclassical and Gothic architectural design with four stone pillars supporting the entrance gate and statues of evangelists.

Built between 1754 and 1776, the cathedral stands as the oldest stone church in Negros island, with its bell tower serving as a watchtower against raids.

The cathedral interior displays statues of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, stained glass windows depicting biblical scenes, and decorative altar pieces beneath high ceilings.

Located in central Dumaguete near Rizal Boulevard, the cathedral maintains regular religious services and accepts visitors throughout the day for prayer and meditation.

The pentagon-shaped Campanario bell tower, constructed from coral bricks in 1879, received national funding of 9 million pesos for conservation in 2024.
